For once I don't find a clothing line created by a celebrity-turned-designer repulsive. Milla Jovovich and ex-model pal Carmen Hawk teamed up a while ago to bring us their feminine namesake line Jovovich-Hawk. But I guess they wanted to reach out to the girls and young women who can't afford a $300+ dress.
The stylish duo's fast fashion line Go International hit Target stores in March. Drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau and iconic films, actresses and 1960s design houses like Biba and Ossie Clark, the collection includes some cute mainstream pieces that don't scream "Hey look, I bought this at Target!", like this Dot Belt Top for $24.99 and Crosshatch Apron Dress for $39.99. At these prices, it doesn't hurt to pick up a few casual pieces for trips up North or afternoon BBQs (can't you just smell the baked beans and brats?)

Romper Room: Return of the 70s short jumper
Think Farrah Fawcett and Jacyln Smith. Those sexy 70s rompers are back in time for summer. And by romper I don't mean the cutesy ones kids or young girls wear. These vintage reinventions are sophisticated and easily transition from day to night. Pair them with espadrilles, wedges, platforms, sky-high heels or Grecian sandels. Rompers are super versatile and talk about easy dressing!
Here are some rompers that work for many body types:

New fashion boutique coming to Uptown!
With so many great shops coming to my neck of the woods, I really have no reason to leave!
Stacy Larson, owner of Covered Boutique in Dinkytown tells me she's opening another store in Uptown with an opening date of April 12. The new Covered Boutique will carry 30% men's and 70% women's clothes.
Here it is straight from the source: "I'm doing less denim than the Dinkytown store and focusing on more sophisticated tops, dresses, separates, shoes, accessories," Stacy says. Covered Uptown will open in the Lumen on Lagoon condo building on Emerson and Lagoon. They'll have the corner space right on the corner of Emerson and Lagoon. So mark your calendars guys and gals!

Tips: How to buy clothes online
This may seem like a no-brainer proposition but after many trials and tribulations, shopping for clothes online is not as straightforward as it seems. Wrought with sizing issues, returns hassles, credit card mishaps and shipping delays, it can make a girl bonkers. But as with everything in life, a little patience goes a long way. Personally, practicing this virtue is not my strong suit--which explains how I've received an item in the mail in a fabric/color/size I wasn't expecting. Go figure.
So I'm passing on my online shopping wisdom to you. Here are some tips for a painless online shopping experience:
Read the item description carefully. I mean it. Every word. Pay attention to the fabric, color, and size. Look for a sizing chart posted on the site because they differ from site to site. Some sites categorize an XS and sizes 0-2 and a Small as 2-4, or a Small could be a 0 and a Medium could be 2-4. So pay attention! For pants and denim, always find out the inseam, rise, and hem opening. If it's not listed, call the customer service number or look for a Live Chat button.
Make sure you are okay with the fabric. I once bought a peasant "blouse" that was actually a sweater. It also had a not-so-cute bow in the back that was not visible online. You have to think about the unknowns.
For shoes, always find out the heel height. Not all websites list them, so you may have to do a little homework. If you want the shoes, it's worth it. It's also worth it to end up with a pair of shoes you like instead of 5 inch platforms that cause you to break an ankle.
Check the return and shipping policies. Be careful when purchasing sale items, as many websites deem these purchases final. Make sure the return process is straightforward (unless you're absolutely sure you want the item). Do they issue a full refund, do they have any restocking fees or issue credit you can only use on the site?
Find out how they ship the item, whether or not they provide tracking information, about how long it will take before they ship the item and how long it will take to reach you--and what happens if it doesn't. I once ordered from a site that made me wait 10 business days after the expected arrival date to place a new order. That meant that nearly three weeks had passed since I originally placed an order and then I had to wait for in-house processing and then another 7-10 business days to get my shipment (in fact, I'm still waiting!).
When you have to make a return, do so right away. Keep an eye on your bank statement and follow up if you don't see the credit made to your account.
When comes to shipping, some online retailers go the extra mile to carry through the shopping experience to how they deliver the goods to you. Larger retailers like Bloomingdale's and Macy's, and some lower-end fashion companies like Delia's, ship in a paper or plastic envelope containing unceremoniously packaged items in clear plastic bags, while others like BasicBoutique.com and CoutureCandy.com, take extra care to deliver your items safely wrapped in tissue paper inside a gift box inside another, sturdier box. I take note of the companies that pay attention to the details and give them my repeat business.
Check back frequently. To get the most out of online shopping, you have to stay diligent when it comes to sale items. The popular sizes go quickly (which inevitably is your size no matter what), and if you're not quick on the draw, you could miss out on huge savings--like up to 70%--on sites like NeimanMarcus.com and other high-end online retailers.
Enlist help. If you're having trouble coming up with ideas, see if the site you're visiting has a Lookbook. This is a great place to check out hot new looks. Or, if you aren't sure which sites to visit and need some inspiration all around, go to shopping referral sites like ShopStyle.com. They round up the latest trends and provide links to the items you want. It's like having a personal shopper in your computer!

Atmosphere, Suit Up & VState Clothing open Uptown store
It was only a matter of time before retailer Express closed its doors in Calhoun Square. But it wasn't long until they were re-opened, and this time the racks are filled with non-chain store merchandise from progressive designers. Suit Up (formerly located at 555 Nicollet Mall), Atmosphere and VState Clothing (which was located across the plaza from Express) have teamed up to fill out the spacious store with a wide variety of men's clothes ranging from suits to urban chic to edgier threads to a small, but growing, collection of ladies' clothes.
VState is known for its cool urban collection of men's button downs from labels like 7 Diamonds, fashion-forward denim and tees from X-Ray and rocker belt buckles. While this store is a haven for guys, VState owner Dan Vargas says he plans to grow his offering of fashion for women--so be patient. Or, head over to its sister store Drama at Gavidae Commons next to Saks to get your fashion fix from designers like Development, Traffic People and Testament.

The most flattering jeans ... ever
Okay, so some of you were blessed with the gift of average (or taller) height, perfect proportions and never walking into a fitting room with 20 pair of jeans and walking out empty handed. (I'm not bitter or anything). Fortunately for me I discovered Adriano Goldschmied (AG) about six years ago. While I'm fairly adventurous in trying new labels, I always come back to my AG jeans. I like my Ted Baker indigo denim and my Frankie Bs are fun for a night of dancing but my AGs get the most wear. Unfortunately, no store in the Twin Cities carries my size and so far, I've only found two stores in town that even carry the line (Anthropolie on France Av. in Edina and Karma on Grand Av. in St. Paul).
And since you don't know me, I can't expect you to take my word for it about how sweet these jeans are, so what would you do if I told you they're Oprah's favorite jeans too? I mean, she's second only to God right? She loves them for the same reasons I do--the strategically placed creases and subtle shift in the color of the wash enlongate the leg--and at 5' 2 1/2 (that half an inch counts!), I need all the help I can get.
You can always buy AG jeans online (like at RevolveClothing.com), just make sure you know the inseam, waist and rise measurements. Know your inseam--getting the hem to reach the bottom of your heel in the back is key to a good fit. My favorite AG style is the Angel but I also own a pair of skinny jeans to wear with my flats (rolling the hem is never an option).
